Rev. Cyril Bekwaw Ekpah was born on 8th February, 1947 to John Bekwaw Essien and Madam Hanna Erba Manu, all of blessed memory at Half Assini in the Western region.
Being farmers at Asukulo, a village near Half Assini, his parents did not take him to school. However, at seven years Cee Bee as he affectionately called decided on his own to go to school and enrolled at the Catholic Primary School at Half Assini
He finally completed his elementary education at the Roman Catholic Middle School in 1964 at Bonyere.
In 1967, he gained an admission into St. Francis Teachers Training Collage at Hohoe in the Volta Region and completed successfully as a Certificate “A” Trained in 1971. He was posted to the N. T. A. Catholic Middle School and taught at his school until 1982. Because Ekpah was born into a Roman Catholic faith he did everything as a real Catholic. While at Bonyere he was the Choir secretary and acted as assistant Choir Master. He became one of the strongest lay preachers in the church.
Between 1974 and 1982, he was the Town Development Committee Secretary and became the first president of the World Vision when he and some other people negotiated and got the World Vision to undertake some development projects in the town.
